Last year, Achmea Real Estate made 500 homes more sustainable on behalf of its institutional clients and fitted another 200 existing homes with solar panels. Of all the houses purchased, 91 per cent were in the affordable rent category and 47 per cent were lifecycle sustainable. This is according to the ESG Report 2023, published today.
“Over the past few years, our people have built up a wealth of knowledge and experience in ESG”, says Boris van der Gijp, Director of Real Estate. “Despite economic headwinds, pressure on financial returns and rising construction costs, we remain determined to make a difference.”
Achmea Real Estate has allocated 188 new homes in the four major cities for 2023 to people in 'key professions': teachers, nurses and police officers. CO2 emissions from the residential portfolio are now 52 per cent lower than in 1990. And of all the buildings in the portfolio, 81 per cent now have an A rating or higher.
